Once upon a time I was an elite athlete. I enjoyed throwing myself repeatedly off a three story building and trying to go in the water without making a splash. Then one day that crazy passion turned into an Olympic gold medal.
My knight on the shining pool deck swept me off my feet around that time, and we decided to dive into a really crazy sport called marriage.
A few years later that event seemed as tame as cliff diving so we decided it was time to swim into the scary, exciting deep end of parenthood. After popping out one really awesome little girl, we still wanted to kick things up to the high diving notch. So we dove head first into adoption and brought home our second daughter from China. Oh, and did I mention the girls are just 6 months apart?
It's been so much fun that we just had to try it again! Three weeks after starting the process for another adoption, we found out we were pregnant. We just brought our son home in January 2014, and our adoption paperwork got to Ethiopia in March, although we will probably have to wait about two years to be matched and bring our baby home.
Oh, and sometimes I have the opportunity to tell my story from a stage or to an anxious listener. It's a story I could never have dreamed up on my own. But I'm sure glad God let's me tag along for the wild ride of this life!
Life is crazy, awesome, beautiful even through the tears that sometimes fall. I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings...
"...but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint."
-Isaiah 40:31
